Rep. Farenthold: Hillary May Regret Saying 'All' Email Released

By    |   Wednesday, 11 March 2015 10:19 AM EDT

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has "set herself up in a pretty good trap" by stating Tuesday that she has turned over all government-related emails from the private account she used exclusively during her tenure in office, Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold said Wednesday on "America’s Forum" on Newsmax TV.

"It only takes one to do away with the word 'all,'" Farenthold said.

"As the stuff Mrs. Clinton turns over is reviewed, if something comes up from another source from Mrs. Clinton about a government matter, it's going to be pretty clear that she didn't turn over all of them."

If Clinton really wanted to reassure her critics and the American people, she would have turned over her server (she refused) and put the government in touch with her IT people and find backup tapes, according to Farenthold.

He also said he found it hard to believe that a secretary of state could function without ever sending "some sort of sensitive or classified information over email," as Clinton states.

"How did you do business on a day-to-day basis?" he asked.

Farenthold also weighed in on announcement by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Forearms and Explosives  (ATF) that the agency would postpone a proposed ban on certain types of rifle ammunition. Public pushback was the likely catalyst for President Barack Obama to cave on the issue, he said.

"President Obama is very sensitive to politics and public pressure, and with the number of comments the ATF got and the number of members of Congress that signed the letter to the ATF, it was pretty clear that the American people were not behind him on this," Farenthold said. "ATF and the president responded."

But, he added, this is probably not the administration’s last attempt to ban the ammo.

"I don’t think it kills the proposal, but it stops it for the time being," he said. "There are a lot of gun control advocates out there in the Democratic Party and in the government, and it's not going to go away that easily.

"We've got to be ever vigilant in protecting our Second Amendment rights from this and other government action."
