The Iowa senate race between Joni Ernst and Bruce Braley is neck in neck, says Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, which monitors elections.

Ernst, a Republican, and Braley, a Democrat are vying for the seat of outgoing Democrat Sen. Tom Harkin.
"When this campaign started, many many pundits thought that Iowa Senate seat would likely stay Democratic," Brown said.
"Ms. Ernst has been an excellent candidate. She's come from being a virtually unknown state senator into someone who has a serious shot at being a U.S. senator."
