Ex-CIA Officer Fred Fleitz: 'Stunning' Security Lapse on DNC Computers

By    |   Tuesday, 14 June 2016 10:06 PM EDT

Reports that Russian government hackers breached the Democratic National Committee's computers and gained opposition research on Donald Trump demonstrate that "the lack of security in the DNC's computers is really stunning," former CIA Fred Fleitz told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"This is the party that Hillary Clinton represents," Fleitz told "Newsmax Prime" host Miranda Khan. "We know that she apparently has no interest at all in protecting classified information, based on this private server that she kept in her home when she was secretary of state."

The Washington Post reported the breach, with DNC officials saying that no financial, donor or personal information was apparently accessed.

That suggested that Russia's efforts were traditional espionage, not the work of criminals, the Post reports.

Fleitz told Khan that while "it's not unusual that a foreign government would do this," the breach served as "an important lesson of what we will get if Hillary wins the presidency."
