The Obama administration is spending $6 billion a year on biodefense "and we're not getting our money's worth," former Sen. Joe Lieberman told
Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
"Six billion dollars a year is just not being coordinated," Lieberman, the former Connecticut independent who now co-chairs the Blue Ribbon Study Panel on Biodefense, told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "Money is being wasted, there's overlaps."

Lieberman cited the example of last year's Ebola crisis.
"When it broke out, it was pretty clear to everybody that the federal government wasn't really ready to deal with it. Hospitals hadn't been prepared for it.
"We were lucky," he said. "The real incidence of the disease didn't come here, but next time it might well.
"Next time, we want to make sure that we're ready with hospitals and a medical system prepared to respond — and also most important of all, some kind of vaccine to help people."
