Newsmax contributor John Fund says the White House was blindsided by Bill Clinton's call for President Barack Obama to keep his promise to those who like their health insurance by allowing them to keep it, even if it means altering the Affordable Care Act.
"[What Clinton said] certainly wasn't orchestrated by the White House because it puts the president in an extremely uncomfortable position," Fund told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"It's very difficult for him to change the law administratively [with] some executive order. He's probably going to have to go to Congress."
Obama might even have to negotiate with "those evil Republicans" to push through changes to the law, according to Fund, who is also national affairs columnist for The National Review and senior editor at The American Spectator.
"Imagine, he'd have to talk to them, he'd have to invite them over, he'd have to actually deal with them," he said.
Obama's relationship with the former president, Fund believes, is not a warm one.
"It's pretty well known that, even though they've patched things up in public, that you could walk through Bill Clinton's deepest affection for Barack Obama and not get your ankles wet," Fund said.
"You know the phrase, 'passive aggressive?' That describes their relationship."
