Vice President Joe Biden thinks there's been a turn in the presidential race that'll carry Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton into the White House — and is confidently predicting, "I don't think it's going to be close."
After his barn-burner speech at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night, Biden reflected about the course of the race in a brief interview with WABC Radio host Rita Cosby.
"I felt good about it," he said of the convention evening that highlighted searing attacks on GOP nominee Donald Trump by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine.
"We started talking about the things that are consequential and the issues," he said of convention speakers. "And i don't think this is going to be close."
He passed the chance to comment on his own remarks, saying "I don't know about my speech — but I felt good about the others."
In his optimistic convention remarks, Biden told a roaring crowd, "We never bow. We never bend. We never break when confronted with crisis. No, we endure."
Doug Hey, former communications director for the Republican National Committee and deputy chief of staff to former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, said Biden's message will play well for Clinton in he crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania.
"Among the many signs Democrats waved Wednesday night were pro-Biden signs that simply said 'Scranton,' referring to the vice-president's birthplace," Hey writes in
The Wall Street Journal.
"Nowhere will he be more needed, and more of an asset, than his home town."
