A day after attending President Donald Trump's inauguration – and being publicly praised by him at the congressional luncheon that followed – Hillary Clinton lauded the women marchers protesting the Trump agenda Saturday.
"Thanks for standing, speaking & marching for our values," Clinton tweeted.
Clinton has been seen only rarely since Election Day, but attended the inauguration as former a former first lady with husband, President Bill Clinton.
"Her expressions ranged from the pained to the dismayed, with occasional moments of effortful cheer," New Yorker editor David Remnick wrote.
At the congressional luncheon following the swearing in, Trump – who bitterly clashed with Clinton during the contentious presidential campaign – told the guests he was "honored when I heard that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton were coming today — and I would like you to stand up. And, honestly, there's nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people."
