Reports: Bush Family Money Tree Spreading Branches for Jeb

By    |   Tuesday, 24 March 2015 07:41 PM EDT

The list of Bushes helping to finance the family's latest foray into presidential politics is getting longer.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will have his brother, sister-in-law, mother and father in attendance this week at back-to-back fundraisers benefiting Right to Rise, the PAC he launched in January ahead of his expected run for president in 2016, according to reports.

Former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush are scheduled to join Jeb Bush in Dallas on Wednesday at a reception with heavyweight GOP political donors including oil man T. Boone Pickens and real estate developer Woody Hunt.

Guests on Wednesday are being asked to contribute as much as $100,000 per couple through bundled donations.

Former President George H.W. Bush and first lady Barbara Bush will attend a fundraiser for their son on Thursday in Houston, Bloomberg reports.

Bush has already had assistance from his mother — who wrote a fundraising pitch for a fund called Run Jeb Run — and from his son, Jeb Bush Jr., who is a point person for outreach to younger voters, USA Today reports.

Other likely GOP presidential candidates are already conceding the campaign dollar race to the heavily connected Bush — and using the contrast in resources to boost themselves as insurgents battling an establishment titan.

"Nobody is going to manage to keep up," Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas told ABC News in an interview that aired Tuesday, one day after he announced his presidential candidacy and as high-powered Bush fundraisers in his home state started popping up on the calendar.

"He is going to shatter every fundraising record that's ever been set," Cruz said of Bush. "He set the goal of $100 million this first quarter. My guess is he blows past that goal. He ends up raising way more than $100 million."
