The House Intelligence Committee cleared its schedule for the week and will not hold any meetings in the wake of Rep. Devin Nunes' actions last week regarding claims of wiretapping in Trump Tower.
Rep. Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat, appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Tuesday and said the committee will not meet this week.
After explaining that meetings on Tuesday and Thursday were canceled, Himes said, "So not only has this investigation sort of had a shadow cast over it, but the committee has been put into suspended animation."
Last week, Nunes went to the White House complex and said he viewed information from a source that demonstrated the U.S. intelligence community collected information from then presidential candidate Donald Trump and members of his inner circle last year.
Nunes then told Trump in person before heading back to Capitol Hill, where he eventually told his fellow members of the Intelligence Committee.
Nunes has caught heavy flak for his actions, and he's been asked to recuse himself from the committee's investigation into Russia's alleged interference with the presidential election — calls he has ignored. He has also refused to step away from his duties as committee chairman.
