The U.S. Secret Service will restrict the use of commercial vehicles near Mar-A-Lago when President Donald Trump visits the private club-turned-Winter White House, Palm Beach officials announced.
The restriction, effective immediately, applies to vehicles larger than a passenger van.
According to a town alert, commercial vehicles are prohibited from traveling east on Southern Blvd. from the City of West Palm Beach into the Town of Palm Beach.
Also, commercial vehicles traveling north on South Ocean Blvd. from Lake Worth Road will be prohibited from continuing north of the 1200 block of South Ocean Blvd.
Palm Beach is expected to be a traffic nightmare Thursday and Friday as Trump hosts for Chinese President Xi Jinping at the stunning oceanfront property built in the 1920s by E.F Hutton and Marjorie Merriweather Post.
The town is also urging drivers to pay attention when they are on the road.
The Town of Palm Beach provides many distractions to drivers while passing through Palm Beach. Stunning architecture, beautiful landscapes and gorgeous beaches are just a few examples of ways drivers can be distracted.
"Let's not make your cellphone one of them," a town bulletin stated.
"Presidential visits, residents, employees, and visitors from all over the world add to the traffic congestion in Palm Beach. During high traffic times, it is necessary for drivers to be aware of their surroundings more than ever. Keep your attention on the road and be aware of the traffic around you."
