A pharmaceutical executive who Donald Trump once called a "spoiled brat" announced Thursday night he is supporting the real estate mogul for president.
Martin Shkreli, the former CEO of two pharmaceutical companies who drew criticism last year when he raised the price of a critical, life-saving drug to treat cancer and AIDS from $1,700 per bottle to $75,000, used Twitter to make his endorsement.
Shkreli is currently in a
legal battle over fraud charges stemming from his time as a hedge fund manager. He is the co-founder of the MSMB Capital Management hedge fund.
In an odd twist, Shkreli found himself in a Twitter conversation with someone who he thought was Donald Trump. It turned out to be a parody account, but Shkreli and that person exchanged several tweets before Shkreli realized Friday morning he had been had.
After Shkreli
raised the price of Daraprim last year, Trump said, "I thought it was a disgusting thing, what he did. I thought it was a disgrace. [Shkreli] looks like a spoiled brat to me."
