New McConnell Ad Ridicules Ashley Judd, Others

Wednesday, 20 February 2013 02:53 PM EST

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s first Web video of the 2014 election cycle takes aim at actress Ashley Judd and a whole host of other possible challengers, according to Politico.

Titled “Obama’s Kentucky Candidate,” the nearly three minute YouTube spot shows President Barack Obama auditioning potential Democratic candidates with little success.

Judd, who has said she is considering a run against the Kentucky Republican, is shown in one speech saying, “Tennessee is home,” and in another, “San Francisco is my American city home.”

The ad later runs a clip of the actress stating, “I can never anticipate what is going to push me over the edge.”

The cleverly edited ad also takes swipes at Democratic officials in the Bluegrass State, including Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, Attorney General Jack Conway, and Rep. John Yarmuth. All have been talked about as possible challengers to McConnell, now serving his fifth term.

The minority leader's re-election bid is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile races of the mid-term election season next year. And Judd is shaping up to be a prime target of Republican campaign attacks.

For example, the American Crossroads super PAC headed by GOP political strategist Karl Rove released an online ad against Judd earlier this month.
