President Donald Trump on Wednesday called White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon "a good guy" who works for him but does not make his decisions, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Bannon's role has been a point of discussion this past week after he was removed from the National Security Council's principal committee and reports surfaced of a clash with White House aide and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"I do my own policy; I'm my own strategist," Trump told the WSJ, when asked about Bannon's role.

"I have people that I respect, I have people that I listen to, I have many people, and then I make the decision," Trump said. "I'm just saying that [Mr. Bannon] is a guy who works for me; he's a good guy. But, I make my own decision. I don't have people making decisions."

The wide-ranging interview also covered Trump's thoughts on Federal Reserve chairwoman Janet Yellen and the dollar, Obamacare subsidies, the Ex-Im Bank, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, North Korea ramping up its nuclear weapons, and a trade deficit with China.

He also said the United Airlines incident where a passenger was forcibly removed from the plane after refusing to give up his seat was "horrible."

"No, no, they should . . . offer more money," Trump said about compensating passengers for putting them on another flight. "Maybe you double, triple, quadruple. You know, there's a point at which I'm getting off the plane."
