Kellyanne Conway on Thursday morning tweeted that she had received a "deluge" of comments and messages about Mitt Romney as Donald Trump's potential pick for Secretary of State.

Trump is allegedly deciding between Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the position.

Trump and Romney were at odds during most of the presidential campaign with Romney calling Trump a "phony" and a "fraud" while arguing that his policies would lead to a recession.

Conway, in the same tweet on Thursday, linked to a story on Politico's website on Trump loyalists Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee warning against Romney as Secretary of State.

Huckabee, according to Fox News, said the nomination of a disloyal Republican would be a distraction in a president's administration and Huckabee said it would be an insult to voters if Romney was picked.

The only way Romney "could even be considered for a post like that," said Huckabee, is if "he goes to a microphone in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous Salt Lake City speech and everything he said after that, where he said Donald Trump wasn't fit, that he lacked character."
