Hollywood liberal Alec Baldwin has sent a fund-raising email on behalf of People for the American Way (PFAW), claiming that the right “hates” him and like-minded individuals.
PFAW was co-founded in 1981 by “All in the Family” TV producer Norman Lear, and Baldwin is a Board Member of the organization.
“The Radical Right apparently hates me — perhaps as much as they hate my friend and mentor, Norman Lear. When I heard that, I considered it a badge of honor,” he writes in his email.
Urgent Poll: One Week Until Election Day. Obama or Romney?
“As of today, I will do whatever I can to make them even more uncomfortable in these final days before the election.
“Now that we're facing the real possibility of a Mitt Romney presidency, we need you in this fight with us until the polls close on Election Day.
“I don't have to tell you, with Romney in the White House, how threatened Americans' fundamental civil, human and constitutional rights would be.
“We must turn out every last progressive voter in these elections.”
Baldwin asked for a contribution to PFAW “to help keep Romney/Ryan out of the White House.”
He also states: “I've taken a lot of heat over the years for the positions and candidacies I've supported.
“We've dared to challenge those, no matter how powerful they are, who have attempted to trample the rights of Americans.
“I'm proud to stand with PFAW.”
