Conservative writer Bill Kristol Saturday called President Donald Trump's Twitter storm about being wire-tapped by the Obama administration during the campaign "a pretty specific allegation" — saying that it was "nothing like Trump's attacks on the media, or even his general complaints about the intelligence community."
Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, opined via Twitter:
In a Twitter rant earlier Saturday, Trump accused former President Barack Obama of wire-tapping his telephone at Trump Tower as part an investigation into whether his campaign was communicating with the Russian government.
Trump has repeatedly denied having any personal ties to Moscow — and his tweets came after news reports this week that Attorney General Jeff Sessions met twice with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice last year while as an Alabama senator.
Sessions Thursday recused himself of any possible investigation of the Trump campaign's involvement with Russia.
