Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon called for Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., to resign Monday after his criticisms of President Donald Trump over the weekend.
Bannon appeared on Fox News' "Hannity" and was fired up over Corker's comments, which prompted a public spat between the outgoing senator, who is not running for reelection in 2018, and the nation's chief executive.
"Sen. Corker is an absolute disgrace," Bannon said. "If Bob Corker had any honor or decency, he should resign immediately.
"It took us a long time to get here. There's no magic wand to blow up this establishment. I hate to tell people, you're going to have to work, but the great determination and courage of the working men and women, we are going to win."
Bannon looped Corker into a group of established Republicans such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., saying they make up the swamp and have to go.
"When you want to talk about why there's no repeal and replace, why there's no tax cut or tax reform, why there's no infrastructure bill, you saw it right there," Bannon said. "Corker, McConnell, the entire clique — the globalist clique on Capitol Hill has to go."
Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., is running for Corker's seat and said during a separate appearance on Fox News she did not want to get in the middle of the feud between Corker and Trump.
"I'm not going to get in the middle of anybody else's argument," Blackburn told "Fox News Tonight."
