Charlie Crist Wins Florida Congressional Seat

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is the projected winner for the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida's 13th District, according to The Associated Press.

Crist, now a Democrat, served as Florida governor as a Republican from 2007 to 2011. He ran for Senate in 2011, but lost the GOP nomination to Marco Rubio, so ran instead as an independent. He lost to Rubio.

He became a Democrat in 2012 after endorsing Barack Obama for president. He lost an effort to return to the governor's office in 2014, losing to Republican incumbent Rick Scott.
