A conservative group staffed with members of President Donald Trump's campaign has pulled an ad campaign that slammed a GOP senator for his opposition to the healthcare bill.

America First Policies' ads that criticized Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., began airing Tuesday. By the evening, however, Politico reported the ad campaign will stop after the group was slammed for knocking a member of its own party.

Heller said last week he would not vote in favor of the Senate GOP's healthcare bill, called the Better Care Reconciliation Act. He was later joined by four other Republican senators, but he was singled out by America First Policies — a pro-Trump group that was formed in January.

Senate Republicans met with Trump at the White House Tuesday. Politico cited a Heller spokesman who claimed Heller said during the meeting he was unhappy with being targeted by the conservative group.

Senate Republicans need to convince a handful of their colleagues to vote for the healthcare bill as is or rewrite parts of it to get the support it needs to pass.
