As former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee prepares for a potential run for president, he is defending his role as a pitchman for a diabetes treatment.
Huckabee filmed an online infomercial for the "Diabetes Solution Kit," which involves taking dietary supplements that contain cinnamon and chromium picolinate — which the
American Diabetes Association has said are not effective for treating diabetes.
In an online infomercial, Huckabee tells of using "the same techniques to lose 110 pounds of fat, get my own blood sugar under control, and completely reverse my Type II diabetes."

Huckabee recently cut ties with the company,
Barton Publishing, as he looks ahead to a possible White House run, but his role of hawking the questionable product may come back to haunt him.
Fundraising emails sent to his supporters have reportedly contained offers to purchase a booklet about how to cure cancer, reports
The New York Times.
During a visit to Iowa on Wednesday, Huckabee said voters should look at his political history — he governed Arkansas from 1996 to 2007 — as proof of his dedication to being a public servant.
"I get critics from all over the place, all the time. I don't say a lot to the critics. I say a lot to the people," said Huckabee, the
Des Moines Register reports.
"I think the seriousness of my getting into the race is seen by 10 and a half years of being governor. When I was a governor, I did the things governors do. Balanced the budget. We improved education. Improved health care. Those are the things that matter."
