President Donald Trump Friday praised Bill and Hillary Clinton during a luncheon after he was sworn in as the nation's 45th commander-in-chief.
"I was honored when I heard that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton were coming today — and I would like you to stand up," Trump said at the Inauguration Luncheon in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol.
The Clintons stood as attendees to the luncheon, which includes members of Congress and the families of the new president and vice president, applauded.
"And, honestly, there's nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people," Trump said. "Thank you all for being here."
In his inauguration speech, Trump only acknowledged former President Clinton — and as he began his remarks.
He did not mention Hillary Clinton, the former first lady and secretary of state, during the speech.
Trump and Clinton had a bruising battle for the White House last year.
