National GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is calling on other candidates to follow his lead and urge their super PACs to stop working on their behalf.
Trump is self-funding his campaign and
last week urged super PACS working on his behalf to return their donations.
With two polls showing Ben Carson over taking him in Iowa, and another showing the two tied, Trump hit Carson over the work super PACS supporting Carson are doing in Iowa.
"His super PAC is running Iowa for him, which shouldn't be," Trump said on ABC's
"This Week" on Sunday. "I'm asking everybody to disavow their super PACs like I do. I don't want any money from anybody."
On CNN's
"State of the Union," Trump called super PACs a "scam."
By law, candidates can't coordinate with super PACS, and Trump said he has no idea what the ones set up in his name are doing.
"I think nine or 10 super PACS were set up in my name. I don't know who they are. … I guess in the name of Trump that we love Trump. Some of them, I'm sure, do. And probably some of them don't. I have no idea what they're going to do with the money they're raising."
