Donald Trump said Wednesday his proposal to temporarily stop Muslims from emigrating to the United States was a "suggestion."

"We have a serious problem. It's a temporary ban. It hasn't been called for yet. Nobody’s done it," Trump told Fox News' Brian Kilmeade during a radio interview.

"This is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on."

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, was originally asked about London's newly elected Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan.

"Well I assume he denies there is Islamic terrorism," Trump said. "There is Islamic radical terrorism all over the world right now. It's a disaster what's going on. I assume he is denying that. I assume he is like our President that's denying it's taking place."

"We have radical Islamic terrorism all over the world," Trump added. "You can go to Paris, you can go to San Bernardino, all over the world: If they want to deny it, they can deny it. I don't choose to deny it."

In a separate interview on Wednesday's "Fox & Friends," Trump said he's thinking about setting up a commission led by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani that would examine the "problem" of undocumented Muslims entering the United States.

Khan accused Trump this week of having an "ignorant view of Islam."
