Poll: Trump Has Lowest Approval Rating at 44%

President Donald Trump has the highest disapproval rating of any new elected president, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Friday. 

The survey results found 53 percent disapprove of the way Trump has so far handled the job, while 44 percent approve — making Trump the only president to have a net-negative rating this early in his tenure, CNN reported. 

A further breakdown shows 43 percent disapprove "strongly" of the job Trump's doing so far, the survey found.

Opinions are sharply partisan: 90 percent of Republicans approve of the president so far; 10 percent of the Democrats approve, according to the survey.

• Barack Obama: 76 percent
• John F. Kennedy: 72 percent
• Dwight D. Eisenhower: 68 percent
• Jimmy Carter: 66 percent
• Richard Nixon: 59 percent
• Bill Clinton: 59 percent
• George W. Bush: 58 percent
• George H.W. Bush: 57 percent
• Ronald Reagan: 51 percent
• Trump: 44 percent

In other poll findings:

• 47 percent say they favor Trump's executive order on a travel halt for Syrian refugees and those from seven Muslim-majority nations, including Syria; 53 percent oppose the order.
• 55 percent say the order was an attempt to ban Muslims from entering the United States.
• 41 percent say the order makes America safer from terrorism, while 46 percent say it makes the United States less safe; 12 percent say it doesn't make a difference.
• Six in 10 oppose Trump's plan to build a wall along the border with Mexico.

The overall survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
