Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he will be "supportive" of President-elect Donald Trump for deciding not to pursue an investigation into Hillary Clinton's email issues, according to The Hill.

"There's a tradition in American politics that after you win an election, you sort of put things behind you," Giuliani told reporters on Tuesday. "And if that's the decision he reached, that's perfectly consistent with the historical pattern. So if he made that decision, I would be supportive of it. I would also be supportive of continuing the investigation."

Trump had a "tough choice" about whether or not to pursue the matter, Giuliani added, The Hill reports.

On Tuesday, Trump's former campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program that he would not be pursuing an investigation.

"He's thinking of many different things as he prepares to become the president of the United States, and things that sound like the campaign are not among them," Conway said.

Huffington Post reporter Eliot Nelson tweeted a headline from Breitbart News that appeared to criticize Trump's plan not to pursue Clinton, calling it a "broken promise."
