The Congressional Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC, took aim at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in its strategy to help Republican nominee Karen Handel in a congressional race in Georgia, according to the Washington Examiner.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, which is aligned with House Speaker Paul Ryan, pointed out that if Democrats took the majority in the House of Representatives, Pelosi would become speaker.

"If Pelosi ever retired, we'd be in a lot of trouble," Corry Bliss, CLF executive director, told the Examiner.

Handel went on to win the special election Tuesday in Georgia's 6th Congressional District.

CLF focused on motivating Republican voters who would be likely to skip a special congressional election, by investing $7 million in the race, including 100 field staff members and 50 volunteers, according to the Examiner.

"We were concerned, with school being out and summer vacation, a lot of people just might not be around. That put more of a premium on organization and enthusiasm, which to be honest, the Democrats had an edge," Bliss said.

Bliss also discussed using Pelosi in a Monday interview with The Washington Times.

"Every morning I wake up and I take a moment to be thankful that the Republican Party still has Nancy Pelosi because Nancy Pelosi is absolutely toxic," the director said.

The CLF plan tied Handel's Democratic opponent Jon Ossoff to the California Democrat, by charging him with being a "Pelosi puppet" that represents "West Coast values," according to the Examiner.
