Hillary Clinton will announce plans for an Office of Immigrant Affairs that she will launch if she is elected president, according to a Clinton aide, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The Immigrant Action Fund plans to endorse Clinton to go along with the announcement Wednesday, said the aide.

The office would coordinate programs across federal, state, and local government to help integrate immigrants into their communities. Clinton's aide said the office would help legal immigrants as well as the undocumented.

The timing of the announcement appears to tie in with the upcoming New York primary, in which a sizable amount of Latino voters are expected.

Both Clinton and her opponent, Bernie Sanders, have pushed themselves as the ideal nominee for immigrant voters.

According to the Phoenix New Times, the Sanders campaign noted Clinton's former opposition to driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants, and Clinton's team pointed out that Sanders voted against immigration reform in 2007.

Clinton and Sanders are in a virtual tie with Latino voters, according to a poll conducted by The Atlantic and Public Religion Research Institute, Latin Post reports. Forty-eight percent of voters in the poll supported Sanders, while 47 percent were on Clinton's side.
