Hillary to Protesters: 'I'm So Sick' of Sanders' Campaign Lies

By    |   Friday, 01 April 2016 02:03 PM EDT

Hillary Clinton angrily lashed out at an environmental activist on Thursday who pressed the Democratic presidential candidate about accepting donations from the fossil fuel industry, accusing the Bernie Sanders campaign of lying about her record.

In a video posted by Greenpeace
, Clinton is shown pointing her finger in the face of the activist, identified by the organization as Eva Resnick-Day, and snapping at her that she is "so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me. I'm sick of it," reports The Hill.

The woman had also asked Clinton if she would reject contributions from fossil fuel companies in the future.

The former secretary of state replied, "I do not have — I have money from people who work for fossil fuel companies," and then made the accusation that Sanders' campaign was lying about her.

However, many of the lobbyists who have been bundling contributions for Clinton have worked for the fossil fuel industry at some time during their careers according to disclosures to the Federal Election Commission in July, reports The Huffington Post, with many of the lobbyists working against regulations on climate change, advocating for offshore drilling, or seeking natural gas export approval.

Clinton has said that she will make the issue of climate change a key focus for her presidential administration, should she win in November.

Meanwhile, Greenpeace Director Molly Dorozenski issued as statement saying that Clinton was "conflating" her organization with the Sanders campaign and pointing out that the environmental organization is independent.

"Our research team has assessed the contributions to all presidential candidates," Dorozenski said. "We have not and will not endorse candidates."

Further, she said that Clinton "cannot ignore the voices of advocates asking her to reject fossil fuel money, or explain away the more than $1 million she takes from fossil fuel lobbyists.

"We would welcome a statement from Clinton saying that she plans to stop taking this money going forward to prove to young people like Eva that she's listening to them, not her biggest donors."
