House GOP Launches Website That Criticizes Media Coverage

House Republicans have launched a website that criticizes the media for concentrating on "chaos" instead of what the party says was a productive first 200 days of the Trump administration, The Hill reported Monday.

The website, called "Did You Know," says that media coverage did not focus on issues important to Americans and slams the press for not writing more about what the Republicans consider their legislative achievements in the House.

It includes both a video listing what the House GOP calls their achievements, as well as a written list.

"House Republicans aren't distracted by the newest countdown clock on cable news or partisan sniping in Washington, D.C.," the website states. "You don't care about those things. You care about finding a good job, taking care of your family, and achieving the American Dream, and so do we."

The website also includes a quiz where readers can answer questions comparing the coverage of major event in the news.

The launching of the site comes as President Donald Trump hit a new low in his approval ratings and the administration has faced severe criticism for passing no major legislation despite the GOP controlling both houses of Congress, as well as the White House.

Although the House did pass an Obamacare repeal-and-replace plan, cited as a victory in the website, the bill was dead on arrival in the Senate, and the legislation has not progressed, the Hill reported.

Other major campaign promises, including tax reform and an infrastructure plan, have not yet been worked on, partly due to the prolonged battle over Obamacare.

A spending measure was passed earlier this year that kept the government open, but the House faces a similar battle again to prevent a shutdown after September.

Another major Trump promise, the building of a wall on the Mexican border, also has been stuck due to the opposition of some Republicans, although $1.6 billion targeted for its construction was included in a spending bill for the next fiscal year.
