Ohio Gov. John Kasich is mounting a "full court press" for delegates in what he hopes will be a contested convention victory for the GOP presidential nomination, he said in an interview broadcast Sunday on
"Face the Nation."
"I think you're going to see a significant changes in the delegates voting after the first ballot," Kasich said, continuing that he has "the best people who can know how to manage a convention,"
Kasich already is mathematically eliminated from winning the nomination on the first ballot and is working to keep Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz from reaching the needed 1,237 delegates required to secure the win on the first vote.
He also plans to meet with all the state delegations in hopes of swaying them on a second round of voting.
"We'll have a full court press," he said. "I am the second choice of the Cruz people and also the Trump people. … Also as you know we've had 10 contested conventions, only three times has the front runner won. And I don't want to go back in history too far, but I think old Honest Abe went into the convention third or fourth and came out the winner."
