Katrina Pierson, who served as national spokeswoman during Donald Trump's presidential campaign, was offered a top White House post, but turned it down, The Daily Beast reported.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer told the website he personally offered Pierson the job of deputy press secretary.
"She accepted and I was excited to have her on the team," Spicer said. "She ultimately decided to pursue another role on the Trump Team."
She is now with a non-profit initiative called America First Policies to support Trump's political agenda, according to the Daily Beast.
"I made a personal decision to remain on the outside for now," Pierson told the Daily Beast. "I have plenty of time to serve."
But Mediaite reported she was denied a position in the White House after she badmouthed Spicer and indicated she should have his position as press secretary.
The website quoted a source saying she was upset about only being offered the deputy press secretary's job.
