Cramer: Senate Democrats to Blame for GOP Healthcare Collapse

By    |   Tuesday, 26 September 2017 02:20 PM EDT

Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., said Tuesday that Senate Democrats are the reason Republicans can’t pass a healthcare bill, saying “they're unified in their opposition to a fix for Obamacare.”

"In my view, I think you have to blame whoever votes no, and that's every Democrat," Cramer said on MSNBC

"Forty-eight Democrats, let's not forget. They're unified in their opposition to a fix for Obamacare. They're unified in their support for continuing the devastation of Obamacare."

Although only 46 members of the Senate are members of the Democratic Party, two independents caucus with them. Every one of them, along with three Republicans, have announced their opposition to the healthcare bill proposed by Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., keeping it from passing.

"This isn't over yet. [Sen.] Rand Paul [Kentucky Republican] still has an opportunity to play Franco Harris, while [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell has the opportunity to play Terry Bradshaw, and he can still catch that Hail Mary pass in the end zone, so the game's not over," he added, harkening back to the the NFL’s “Immaculate Reception” in 1972.

"They are unanimous in their opposition to helping us fix it," Cramer said. "Yes, there are also three Republicans that are at this point, at least two for sure, that oppose it, but every Democrat opposes it and we can't let them off the hook."
