Michael Moore Wants 'Special Prosecutor' Over Comey, FBI Letter

By    |   Sunday, 13 November 2016 11:21 AM EST

A special prosecutor should be appointed to examine the actions of FBI Director James Comey in the weeks leading up to the general election, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said Sunday, agreeing in part with Hillary Clinton, who told donors she blames Comey for her loss.

"I've called on President [Barack] Obama to appoint a special prosecutor, as soon as possible, to to investigate how it is that the FBI director was able to interfere with an election, which I believe is not legal, and help tip the balance in what was going to be a very close election," Moore told CNN's Jake Tapper on his "State of the Union" program.  "Not only should people speak about it, it needs to be investigated."

In a conference call with donors, according to sources involved in the call, Clinton blamed Comey for her loss, after he sent a letter to Congress 10 days before the election announcing that he was reinstating an investigation into whether she mishandled classified information when she used a private email server while secretary of state from 2009 to 2012.

A week later, Comey came back, on the Sunday before Election Day, to announce that he'd reviewed the emails and that he did not believe she should be prosecuted, but the political damage was already done Clinton said, as Trump was able to use Comey's announcements against her.

Moore's suggestion for a special prosecutor was part of a Facebook message he posted last week, where he also called for forming an opposition movement; preparing to impeach Trump; demanded Democrats reject Trump's Supreme Court nominees who do not meet liberals' approval; called on the Democratic National Committee to apologize to Bernie Sanders; making election reforms including eliminating the Electoral College and electronic voting; giving all citizens, regardless of criminal background, the right to vote; and convincing Obama to dig up and replace "poisoned pipes" in Flint, Michigan.
