Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence Tuesday said that news reports that more than half of the people outside of government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state donated to the Clinton Foundation further proved the "the pay-to-play politics at her State Department."
"The fact that Hillary Clinton's official schedule was full of meetings with Clinton Foundation donors is further evidence of the pay-to-play politics at her State Department," the Indiana governor said. "No one is above the law."
The Associated Press reported that 85 of the 154 people representing private interests who met or had telephone conversations scheduled with Clinton had donated as much as $156 million to her family foundation.
At least 40 contributed more than $100,000 each, while 20 gave over $1 million.
"The Clinton Foundation must be immediately shut down and an independent special prosecutor be appointed to determine if access to Hillary Clinton was for sale," Pence said. "It would be a dereliction of duty by President Barack Obama and his Justice Department if they fail to act on these startling new facts right now."
