The Pentagon retweeted a message from another Twitter user that called on President Donald Trump to resign Thursday but deleted the post a short time later.

According to Politico, someone with access to the Department of Defense's Twitter account retweeted this from user @proudresister:

The post on the DOD's Twitter feed was quickly deleted. According to Politico, Pentagon spokesman Col. Rob Manning said an "authorized operator . . . erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense."

"The operator caught this error and immediately deleted it," Manning added.

The @proudresister Twitter feed is full of anti-Trump content, and a website linked in the user's Twitter bio sells apparel with anti-Trump messages.

The fiasco came on the same day a California model and radio anchor accused Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., of groping her 11 years ago. There is also the ongoing saga involving Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused by multiple women of pursuing teenage girls 40 years ago.
