On his first full day back to work after being assaulted at his Kentucky home, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said Tuesday he intends to introduce an amendment to help the Republican Party follow through with a promise it's made for years regarding Obamacare.
Paul aired his thoughts regarding the Senate's tax proposal on Twitter, saying he plans to introduce an amendment to the plan that would repeal the individual mandate that's included in the Affordable Care Act.
The Congressional Budget Office said last week repealing the individual mandate would save the federal government $338 billion. It also would reduce the number of Americans without health insurance by 13 million in 2027.
The House and Senate have introduced similar tax reform plans in recent weeks.
Paul returned to Washington, D.C. Monday more than a week after he said his neighbor assaulted him at his home while he was doing yard work.
