Businessman and conservative donor Richard Uihlein was unmasked as the top funder of a PAC that supports Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore in newly released data.
The Daily Beast cited figures from the Federal Election Commission that shows Uihlein, who co-owns shipping and office supplies company Uline with his wife, gave $100,000 to the Proven Conservative PAC in the last few months.
According to the FEC report, Uihlein gave the group $50,000 on Sept. 8 and another $50,000 on Nov. 22.
The second donation occurred weeks after it was first claimed that Moore had either pursued young girls or had sexual contact with them when he was in his early 30s. Subsequent reports have come out that said Moore tried to pick up teenage girls at an Alabama mall 40 years ago.
Moore has vowed to stay in the race despite the allegations. He is running against Democrat Doug Jones in a Dec. 12 special election that will determine who holds the seat once occupied by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Uihlein has supported several conservative candidates over the years, a list that includes Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
