President Donald Trump ripped into the NFL again on Wednesday, questioning when "highly paid" commissioner Roger Goodell is finally going to get "tough and smart" regarding player protests during the national anthem.

And Trump warned the issue is "killing" the league.

His comments came in an early morning post on Twitter:

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that some NFL owners are looking at the possibility of keeping players in the locker room while the anthem is played next season.

"I think that if players are still kneeling at the end of the year, then it could very well happen," said one person familiar with the owners' discussions.
