Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump Sunday night tweeted criticism of former president Bill Clinton’s meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch last week on a Phoenix airport tarmac.
Since the episode became public, the meeting has been criticized across the political spectrum as inappropriate and, at the least, giving the appearance of impropriety due to the ongoing federal investigation into Hillary Clinton due to a private email server during her time as secretary of state.
One of the tweets Trump sent out speculated that Hillary sent her husband to the meeting, and the only reason she was made was that he got caught.
The Clintons have expressed regret about the incident,
ABC News reports.
Both the Clinton and Lynch and say the encounter was purely by chance and that Bill delayed his flight when he heard that the attorney general’s plane was going to land at the same tarmac where he was waiting and that they said they spoke only about pleasantries, such as how their grandchildren were doing.
Another of Trump’s emails related to that claim, asking if anybody really believes that Bill Clinton and the USAG talked only about grandkids and golf for 37 minutes in plane on the tarmac.
Trump sent out another tweet, emphasizing a report about the supposed secret nature of the meeting, because the FBI ordered people to go away from the plane and not to take pictures.
The Clinton campaign is reportedly worried about the fallout from the encounter, because they are aware that one of Hillary’s drawbacks is her perceived untrustworthiness.
