The White House website under President Donald Trump has changed or eliminated information previously made available to the public, The Hill reported on Monday.

The changes include removing some pages and links from the administration of former President Barack Obama, including a page that allowed people to donate to help fund groups aiding refugees in Syria. White House visitor logs are also no longer available, as they were during the Obama administration.

In other cases, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration now limits its publication of fines against employers, a tactic used by both Obama and former President George W. Bush to discourage other companies from behaving in similar fashion, The Washington Post reported Sunday. And, the administration no longer publishes ethics waivers for former lobbyists.

"The President has made a commitment that his Administration will absolutely follow the law and disclose any information it is required to disclose," White House spokeswoman Kelly Love told the Post via email.

Analyst Nathan Cortez, associate dean of research at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law, said the White House website's "data sets" decreased from 195,245 to 156,000 during the past three months.

Cortez explained the website under Obama increased its information, although the data presented was not always accurate. Under Trump, he told the Post transparency was moving "in the opposite direction."

Some federal web pages under Trump were regularly maintained, while information on others had been relocated or removed, the Post reported.
