God Bless What America?

Tuesday, 30 January 2007 12:00 AM EST

Presidents and politicians are fond of ending their speeches by declaring "God Bless America."

I have a question for them: Just

Could it possibly be the America that sits idly by while 4,000 of their fellow Americans are being butchered every day in their mother's wombs?

Could it possibly the America where Christians who claim to be appalled by the slaughter of the innocents have no problem voting for and otherwise supporting politicians who claim to be Christians yet blithely stand by and allow and even encourage the butchery to continue?

Could it possibly be the America where fully 80 percent of the people admit that abortion is murder yet insist that it must remain legal because women should have a right to choose to murder their unborn infants?

Could it possibly be the America where those profiting from the billion dollar abortion industry are permitted to deceive potential clients by telling then that the human being in their womb is nothing more than a meaningless tangle of cells and tissue despite unanimous testimony from medical science that it is a human being from the very moment of conception?

Could it possibly be the America where proprietors of the abortion mills will not allow prospective clients to see the developing infant in their womb through the medium of ultra sound imaging, thus preventing the mothers from seeing exactly what it is they plan to have chopped up inside their wombs, or scalded to death or vacuumed out of their wombs piece by bloody piece?

Could it possibly be the America where federal courts have been allowed to block enforcement of the federal ban on partial birth abortion, a satanic procedure where an infant about to be born is partially yanked out of the birth canal by its tiny squirming feet, has scissors jabbed to the back of its skull, its brains sucked out and its skull crushed?

Could it possibly be the America where the government gives taxpayers' money to Planned Parenthood, helping the subsidize the nation's leading mass murderer of the unborn?

Could it possibly be the America whose citizens rely on the militantly secularist pro-abortion media for news and information when that same media widely reports on the gathering in Washington of some 30,000 anti-war protesters while all but ignoring 100,000 pro-life marchers taking place at the same time?

If that's the America the speechmakers are talking about, one might conclude that they are asking a heck of a lot more of God than he could ever be expected to grant.

Since the abominable decision in Jan. 22, 1973, in the case of Roe v. Wade when the Supreme Court ruled that, thanks to a newly discovered right to privacy apparently long hidden in the Constitution until the honorables came upon it, women could kill their unborn infants, over 40 million Americans have been sacrificed in the holocaust of abortion. And the butchery continues unabated.

Now we all know that God is infinitely merciful, and more than happy to forgive the very worst of sins and the very worst of sinners. All he asks of us sinners is repentance and a resolution to avoid repetition of the offense.

Asking God to bless America when we neither repent nor resolve to stop murdering our unborn young is asking just a bit much. God is all merciful, but God is not stupid. And without his blessings, we are on our own; and history has provided us with examples of all sorts of unpleasant consequences that accompany humanity's being cut adrift from its creator.

God doesn't zap us with thunderbolts to punish us; we call them down upon us all by ourselves.

And they are coming.

If we want God to bless America, as he has in the greatest abundance for over 200 years, we simply have to put our foot down and abolish this crime against nature for good and for all. Or get ready to pay the consequences.

God bless the America that kills its young?

Fat chance.
