US Dominates Baseball Powerhouse

Sydney, 2000. Since the introduction of baseball to the Olympics, Cuba had won every single one of its games. In 2000, the Cubans were favored to win gold as they easily ascended to the finals against the United States. Led by pitcher Ben Sheets, the United States crushed the Cubans 4-0 proving America’s athletic prowess. U.S. manager Tommy Lasorda said of the game, “This is bigger than the World Series . . . this is the greatest moment of my life . . . ”
