But the Walton legacy is not the only thing that makes this city of about 33,000 stand out among small Arkansas towns. Bentonville soon will be the home of Crystal Bridges, a $50-million museum scheduled to open in early 2011. Many major attractions are dedicated to historic preservation and conservation, including Compton Gardens and the Civil War-era Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens.
