Adam Richman's recent Instagram controversy may have put the brakes on his upcoming Travel Channel series, but it's not stopping NBC from airing the first episode of his show "Food Fighters" this week.
Richman, the foodie best known for taking on seemingly impossible eating challenges on "Man v. Food," was slated to star in a new Travel Channel show called "Man Finds Food" until an
Instagram brawl last month caused the network to postpone the series indefinitely.
It all started when Richman, who lost 60 pounds on a diet over the last year, posted a photo of his new physique on the picture-sharing network in late June with the tag #thinspiration.

Many took offense to the hashtag, which is reportedly frequently used on pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia websites in an effort to glorify eating disorders.
Richman apologized, but later responded to his critics by telling one to go commit suicide.
"It doesn't feel good to be called out publicly when you do something wrong, especially by multiple people,"
wrote Amber Sarah on XOjane.com. "It's uncomfortable. But these responses are completely unacceptable. He then went on to 'apologize.' But this apology was completely invalidated in the comment section, where he waxed poetic about people being oversensitive and pandered to his fans instead. I for one am extremely disappointed by the fact that he's obviously not learned anything from this incident."
But despite the drama, NBC is still planning to air "Food Fighters" this week, a new show where home cooks spar with professional chefs in an effort to win $100,000. Richman has signed on to host the
competition series, according to the Los Angeles Times.
No word yet on when, or even if, the Travel Channel will air "Man Finds Food."
"Food Fighters" premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
