Netflix has signed a deal to make four movies with Adam Sandler that will be distributed exclusively to its subscribers.

"People love Adam's films on Netflix and often watch them again and again," Ted Sarandos, the company's head of content, said in a press release on Thursday. "His appeal spans across viewers of all ages — everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line — not just in the U.S. but all over the world."

As Rolling Stone reported, Sandler confirmed the news with a celebratory post on Twitter.

"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said 'yes' for one reason and one reason only . . . Netflix rhymes with 'wet chicks,'" said Sandler. "Let the streaming begin!"

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and publications seemed conflicted about the merits of a four-movie deal starring Sandler.

Forbes criticized the deal, saying it was terrible business to strike "a multi-picture deal with a guy who was big-time bankable when Bill Clinton was president." It did acknowledge, however, that despite Sandler's recent spate of "stinkers," "Grown Ups 2" was hugely profitable, "drawing nearly a quarter billion in box office."

Similarly, Business Insider noted that "Sandler has struggled to deliver successful feature films lately," but declined to question Netflix's content strategy too much because it considered "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black" to be "big hits."
