Apple's news conference Monday afternoon is expected to introduce several new products, including the four-inch iPhone SE and a 9.7-inch iPad Pro,
technology website 9to5 Mac reported.
Notably, the news conference at Apple's Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino, California, is happening one day before the company's court date in its continued fight with the FBI over encryption and privacy,
wrote Time magazine, but it was not known if the subject would be addressed.
The smaller iPhone is making most of the buzz, according to 9to5 Mac, even though 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones are already on the market.
"As a smaller device that won't exactly be flagship status, the iPhone SE will likely feature a mix of specs from the iPhone 6 and 6s but packaged in an iPhone 5-sized casing," wrote 9to5 Mac.
The new iPad Pro is also expected to be a downsized version of the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro that was rolled out last fall.
"Apple typically updates its 9.7-inch tablet annually, but focused instead last year on refreshing the 7.9-inch iPad mini and introducing the 12.9-inch iPad Pro," wrote 9to5 Mac. "While rumors have referred to the next mid-size tablet as the iPad Air 3, 9to5 Mac has reported that Apple will likely call it the iPad Pro."
CNET.com reported that Apple took its Web store offline at approximately 7 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday in preparation for the new product announcement.
"We can't wait to show you what we have in store," Apple said on the site, according to CNET.com. "Our virtual doors are just about to open. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and your patience as we work to get everyone in as quickly as possible. Keep checking back, because it won't be long now."
Apple used the March announcement in 2015 to roll out the Apple Watch. Many predicted that the company could also unveil new software, colors, and bands for the Apple Watch this time around.
