Biz Markie's Lucky Charms rap remix of "Just a Friend" is getting fans excited for a sweepstakes to win a limited-edition box of the famous breakfast cereal that contains only the marshmallow pieces.
"Just share a photo of yourself holding an imaginary box of Lucky Charms on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between October 14 and 18 using #Lucky10Sweepstakes,"
General Mills company said in a blog post.
Simultaneously, it released a music video wherein rapper Biz Markie does a corporatized version of his hit single "Just a Friend," on Twitter.
"We wanted to tap into where that love is and it’s across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Lucky Charms is one of the most Instagrammed cereals and these platforms are the right place to ignite and connect to the passion we hear about," said Amanda Hill, associate marketing manager of Lucky Charms,
according to Fortune magazine.
"We wanted to have a little fun and connect with our fans. It needed to be easy and accessible for everyone to have a chance to win and celebrate what makes us, us — the marshmallows."
While General Mills is offering only 10 boxes of the
diabetes-inducing cereal, Today.com reported that it has in the past sent the boxes to celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Blake Shelton.
Alas, for those who can't wait — or don’t win — there's always the option of sorting the marshmallows out yourself.
