Camille Cosby: Women Who Accused Bill of Rape Took Pills Voluntarily

By    |   Monday, 13 July 2015 07:03 AM EDT

Camille Cosby, wife and business manager of Bill Cosby, reportedly believes that the women accusing her husband of drugging and sexually assaulting them actually consented to their encounters.

"She’s well aware of his cheating, but she doesn’t believe that her husband is a rapist," a source close to Camille Cosby told the New York Post. "Camille still doesn’t believe that Bill provided drugs and had sex with women without their consent."

Last week, unsealed court documents from a 2005 case against Cosby, now 78, showed that he admitted to providing Quaaludes to women for sexual purposes, but did not say one way or another whether the women consented to taking them. The case, brought by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand, was ultimately settled out of court. Constand's lawyer has now requested that the judge release Cosby's full deposition.

On Tuesday, Camille Cosby, 71, allegedly told a group gathered at her and Bill's home in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, that the media is "making him out to be such a bad guy, a monster."

Singer and actress Jill Scott said recently she no longer supports Cosby, and the Cosbys are well aware that they are continuing to lose supporters.

"People are jumping ship," Camille reportedly told her friends, apparently alluding to Scott, as well as comedian Jimmy Walker.

Camille Cosby also told them she long ago stopped being embarrassed of her husband's philandering, and said every few years she goes through an "evaluation period" to decide if her and Bill's marriage should continue. She said she even consulted Oprah Winfrey about it once.

In the end, she declared, "I created him, I knew what I was getting and we’ll fix this."
