Celine Dion is scared of losing her husband to cancer but is determined to make the most of every moment as she returns to the Caesars Palace Colosseum stage in August.
Dion, who took the last year off as her husband Rene Angelil fights cancer,
told People magazine, “I am scared of losing him, because it's bad. But I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I'm strong and we're OK."
She’ll be back on the Las Vegas stage in August, and Dion told People that her husband was fully supportive of her return to performing.
"Rene will be in the audience," Dion, 46, told the entertainment magazine. "I promise there will be high, happy notes, but it's going to be very emotional for me."
Dion said she was planning her comeback when the couple found out that Angelil had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. “He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him,” she told People.
Dion said she spent the last year taking care of her husband, who eats from a feeding tube after throat surgery, and their three sons, Rene-Charles, 14, and twins, Eddy and Nelson, 4.
In 2013,
The Daily Mail reported that Dion’s then 18-year marriage to Angelil had hit rough spots, and that the two, who are 26 years apart in age, struggled to communicate at times.
“We had tension between us. It's never easy being husband and wife, but add to that we are in business together, dealing with all the added pressures of shows, concerts, tours, traveling. It was hard — a lot of hard work,” the Mail quoted Dion. But with advice from a friend on communicating better, Dion said then that their marriage was stable.
