Chelsea Handler, the host of the late-night show "Chelsea Lately," may be headed to Netflix when her contract expires at the end of 2014, the New York Post reports.

Chelsea Handler, 39, told Howard Stern on his satellite radio program a few weeks ago that her current employer, NBCUniversal’s E! cable network, is a “sad, sad place to live” and would be looking for a new home once her contract is up.

“They don’t know what they’re doing (at E!). They have no ideas. It’s a failure,” she told Stern before hinting she might head to Netflix, which has seen success with “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.”

Netflix currently doesn’t have any live talk show programming.

Representatives for Handler and Netflix have not commented, however a source told the New York Post that a deal has been struck but a format for the show hasn’t been decided.

Handler told Stern she thought Netflix would be a good place for her. In a roundup of the interview on Stern's website, Handler said she isn’t “thrilled with the idea of going to a major major network either, because there are so many people to answer to and so many rules.”

Handler said the ideal situation for her would be someplace like Netflix where people can watch her show whenever they want.

Born in Livingston, N.J., Handler appeared in several movies and television shows before her show on E!, “Chelsea Lately,” debuted in July 2007. She told daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month that she would “never go to CBS” after it was announced that David Letterman would be retiring and leaving the network as host of “The Late Show” in 2015. Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert will replace Letterman.
